I’ll see if I can get any data from them.”Bolt and Wren stared at the planet. “No, the readings I’m getting from them are too primitive. The three moons were still the same, but several other objects seemed to be orbiting the planet as well.“Are those… Spaceships?” Bolt asked Harry, squinting at the viewscreen.Harry ran a scan on them through his console. Currently in former Pyrrhia, it was nighttime, and that allowed them to see the key difference the continent now had: the constellations of electric lights clustered around major settlements, mostly along the shoreline. The familiar dragon-like shape of the planet’s continents became discernable as they neared. It was almost comical that soon, Bolt and his team were going to do exactly that to learn about the people Lucis had populated their home planet with.Hours later, they finally saw the planet they had been so familiar with. Funnily enough, a lot of Terran shows from the twentieth through the twenty-first centuries that involved contact with off-world civilizations often involved the aliens learning about human culture through watching television programs broadcast to them through space. It fit the fleeting glimpse into their culture Puff had provided Their technology was seemingly equivalent to mid-twentieth century technology on Earth.“It seems they have television,” Harry commented, scanning their signals on the nose transceiver, “Though we’re still too far away to get a clear picture.”Bolt wondered what kind of shows these people had. The frequencies they were using were fairly primitive, being between one-hundred to six-hundred megahertz. They had roughly reached the halfway point in their transit when they started receiving broadcasts from the planet, proving that the people on the changed world had reached the point of inventing radio technology at least. Somehow he managed to accidentally queue Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds” on the ship’s intercom before he hastily shut it down. That’s very good advice that kid gave you, we should definitely be on the lookout for them.”“How long until we get there?” Wren asked.“Ah, a couple hours at our current speed.” Harry replied, taking a moment to check their navigation system readout.Bolt soon learned what it meant to “hurry up and wait” as they approached his homeworld, tapping his fingers impatiently on the OmniGlass. “Presumably he’s warning us about some sort of surveillance system Lucis has. All I know is what Puff showed me, and that he told me to ‘avoid the Eyes,’ whatever those are.”Harry chimed in. “Bolt, what do you think’s going on down there?”“I don’t know. Wren tore her eyes away from the console and gave Bolt a serious look. The intent was to avoid whatever kind of scanning or radar technology Lucis’ people had, proving Harry’s professionalism in the TUSC navy was alive and well. The three of them were glued to the viewscreen as they inched closer towards the planet. Harry had them drop out of FTL a hundred-thousand kilometers beyond Devonhart Three, firing up the cloak as soon as they emerged. 14 Chapter Fourteen: The Savior’s CrestIt had taken them the rest of the day-in Terran time, at least-to reach the Devonhart system. There is also a Netflix series in development.
These make up the first mini-series, The Dragonet Prophecy. There are 14 books in the Wings of Fire series so far, as well as a series of graphic novels, but so far only 5 of these are available in the UK. The exciting middle-grade stories, with awesome illustrations by Joy Ang, are perfect for hooking kids 8+ into reading. In each book one of the Wings of Fire dragons, from Tsunami the under-water dragon to to StarFlight one of the NightWings, tells their own story about the battles, the prophecy and their search for their original homes. Five dragonets are collected to fulfill the prophecy, raised in a hidden cave and enlisted, against their will, to end the terrible war. A secret movement called the Talons of Peace is determined to bring an end to the fighting, with the help of a prophecy - a foretelling that calls for great sacrifice. Sutherland tells the tales of seven dragon tribes who have been at war for generations over an ancient, lost treasure.
